DISCUSSIONOn the occasion of Bangabandhu’s 45th martyrdom anniversary, Dhaka School of Economics’ Chairperson Economist Dr Kazi Khaliquzzaman Ahmed, Lieutenant Colonel (retd) Quazi Sajjad Ali Zahir Bir Protik and Dhaka school’s Economics Department Coordinator Professor Dr Mohammad Mahbub Ali, among others, spoke at the discussion.
Quazi Sajjad Zahir said, “Bangabandhu is a true idealistic great leader. Due to his efficient leadership, the subjugated nation was liberated.”
“The young generally should work after being inspired by Bangabandhu’s ideology. If we work with honesty and devotion like Bangabandhu, we will get political as well as economic freedom,” he added.
Kazi Khaliquzzaman Ahmed said that after the independence of the country, Bangabandhu’s leadership focused on the development of agriculture and marginalised people across the country.
“He undertook various initiatives to ensure economic equality and emancipation. To implement his ideas, the Palli Karma Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) has launched an enrichment programme,” he added.
Professor Muhammad Mahbub Ali said that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was a political entrepreneur.
“He took initiative to implement various field level programmes, including agricultural insurance for the development of rural and marginalised people. However, many of his initiatives have not yet been implemented,” he added.
Among others, Rehana Parveen, assistant professor of the school, Sara Tasneem and Umme Nahar Azmi, president of the Entrepreneurial Economist Club spoke on the occasion.
